Faculty Members at the University of Basrah Publish Research in an Arabic Journal
Dr. Huda Kadhim Ahmed and Mr. Haider Shaker Darwish, both faculty members at the Marine Science Center of the University of Basrah, along with other researchers, published a scientific paper titled "Predatory Efficiency of Anisops sardea and Sigara lateralis Against Culex quinquefasciatus Larvae in Basra, Iraq" in the Egyptian Journal of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries. This journal, published by the Egyptian Society for the Development of Fish Resources and Human Health, specializes in marine and lake sciences and aquaculture and is considered a reputable scientific journal indexed in Scopus Q3.
The published research aimed to review the efficiency of two types of predatory aquatic insects in eliminating mosquito larvae in Basra. It concluded that the Anisops sardea is more efficient than the Culex quinquefasciatus larvae, especially the females.
