The University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Nematode Pheromones and Biological Control
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a seminar on nematode pheromones and their potential application in biological control methods, with the participation of a number of academics and researchers.
The seminar, delivered by Dr. Ali Zuhair Abd, aimed to introduce nematode pheromones in terms of their chemical composition, classifications, and significance in the agricultural field.
The session also included a discussion of proposed approaches for utilizing these pheromones as environmentally friendly alternatives to chemical pesticides.
Furthermore, the seminar reviewed the scale of damage caused by nematodes to agricultural crops, in addition to the adverse effects of chemical pesticides, with a focus on the most promising pheromones suitable for practical implementation in biological control programs.
