Faculty Members at the University of Basrah Publish a Scientific Study in the JABB Journal
Dr. Mahmoud Shaker Hashem and Dr. Ahmed Yousef Lafteh, faculty members at the Marine Science Center of the University of Basrah, along with other researchers, published a scientific study titled:
First record of Pluchea dioscoridis (Asteraceae) in Al-Chibayish, Southern Iraq
in the JABB Journal of Applied Biology & Biotechnology. JABB is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes original research, review articles, and short correspondence in the fields of biology, biotechnology, and agricultural sciences, and is indexed in Scopus Q3.
The study aimed to document the first recorded occurrence of the Pluchea dioscoridis plant, belonging to the Asteraceae family, in the Al-Chibayish region of southern Iraq, and to include the species in the list of terrestrial and aquatic plants in the area. This update of the botanical records for the Al-Chibayish marshes, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site within the Mesopotamian Marshes, is significant.
