University of Basrah Organizes Lecture on Arabic as a Global Soft Power
The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the College of Education for Women, held a lecture entitled "The Arabic Language as a Soft Power in the Global Communication Sphere."
The lecture aimed to highlight the status of Arabic as a value system, a sovereign tool for international communication, and an open cultural identity.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Ashwaq Ghazi Al-Yassiri, addressed the presence of Arabic in international forums, particularly its adoption as an official language of the United Nations in 1973, as well as digital challenges and the role of translation.
It also discussed the motivations for learning Arabic globally, its impact on identity formation, and the role of digital media in enhancing its global presence.
