University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Workshop on Molecular Diagnosis of Bacterial, Fungal, and Parasitic Infections
The Continuing Education and Development Center at the University of Basrah organized a scientific workshop entitled “Molecular Diagnosis of Bacterial, Fungal, and Parasitic Infections.”
The workshop aimed to familiarize participants with the fundamentals and modern techniques of molecular diagnostics, particularly Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Real-Time PCR, due to their high accuracy and rapid detection of pathogens compared to conventional methods.
The workshop, delivered by Dr. Khulood Abdulkarim Hussein, included practical training on nucleic acid extraction, sample preparation, and result analysis, as well as correlating findings with clinical cases.
The workshop recommended expanding the adoption of these techniques and enhancing the training of laboratory personnel to ensure diagnostic quality and improve healthcare outcomes.
