University of Basrah Organizes Seminar on Soil Salinity Interaction
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled "The Tripartite Interaction Between Soil Salinity, Plant Stress, and Pathogens."
The seminar, presented by Dr. Lina Kadhim Mashhout, aimed to highlight the challenges facing agriculture in southern Iraq due to high soil and irrigation water salinity and its impact on plant health.
The seminar included a discussion of the physiological mechanisms that plants employ to cope with salt stress in conjunction with pathogen infection, as well as an explanation of the repercussions of this on agricultural productivity.
The seminar emphasized the importance of adopting scientific strategies to mitigate the effects of salinity and improve the sustainability of agricultural production.
