University of Basrah Organises Workshop on Cosmetic Dermal Fillers
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organised a workshop addressing the side effects associated with the use of botulinum toxin and dermal fillers in facial cosmetic procedures.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the risks linked to these injections, particularly their potential to weaken the skin’s protective barrier and contribute to various health issues. It also sought to highlight the consequences of improper and unregulated use, as well as the growing reliance on such procedures.
The workshop included a lecture delivered by Dr. Manal Abdulkhaliq, who explained that the increasing demand for cosmetic treatments has led to a rise in the use of botulinum toxin and biocompatible materials. She also noted that research has demonstrated a range of health risks associated with these substances.
