The University of Basrah Enhances Students’ Skills through Free Field-Based Veterinary Practice
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a free field-based therapeutic practice in cooperation with the Association of Veterinary and Agricultural Professionals affiliated with the Sadikoun Movement, as well as the Veterinary Syndicate in Basrah Governorate.
The activity included animal examinations, diagnosis of medical conditions, and the administration of necessary treatments. It also involved the control of internal and external parasites—particularly ticks, which serve as vectors for hemorrhagic fever—and pregnancy diagnosis in livestock using ultrasound.
This initiative comes as part of joint efforts to develop students’ scientific and practical competencies and to bridge academic curricula with real-world application. It is one of a series of extracurricular activities aimed at preparing a generation of veterinary doctors equipped with comprehensive expertise in field management and clinical practice.
