University of Basrah Holds Its Eleventh Session to Discuss Key Issues
The Council of the University of Basrah held its eleventh session for the 2025–2026 academic year under the chairmanship of the University President, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem Al-Asadi, with the attendance of his assistants, the Council Secretary, and council members, to follow up on ministerial directives, discuss university presidency instructions, and enhance academic performance.
The session included the approval of the undergraduate admission plan for the upcoming academic year, discussions on transfer requests submitted by top-performing students, the postponement of studies, and the review of tuition fee cases involving reductions and exemptions for a number of students across various colleges.
Regarding postgraduate studies, the Council approved study leave requests, updates to academic curricula, and extensions of study periods for certain students, in addition to appointing external supervisors to strengthen research quality and academic rigor.
The Council also ratified the minutes of 13 academic promotions, approved service extensions for a number of faculty members, and reviewed proposals related to the renaming and development of certain academic departments. Furthermore, discussions addressed quality assurance reports, institutional performance, and the activities of research centers.
