The University of Basrah organized a central ceremony to commemorate the sixty-second anniversary of its establishment at the University Presidency Hall, attended by presidents of public and private universities in Basrah Province, along with members of the University Council.
During the opening speech, University President Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazim Al-Asadi stated that the progress witnessed by the university today is the result of a clear academic vision and dedicated efforts aimed at enhancing institutional performance. He noted that the recent launch of the “Scientific Research Platform” and the “Researcher Oasis” has played a significant role in organizing academic output and providing a modern digital environment that supports researchers in achieving scientific excellence.
He added that the university has continued to expand its international engagement through scientific visits to Chinese universities, which resulted in the signing of fifteen cooperation and twinning agreements, further strengthening the university’s standing and global presence.
Dr. Al-Asadi also emphasized that this institutional progress has been accompanied by extensive infrastructure development across the university, including the construction and modernization of classrooms and laboratories, the rehabilitation of the University Presidency building, and maintenance of electrical facilities. Attention was also given to essential services through the establishment of reverse osmosis (RO) water purification stations for students residing in university housing, in addition to the development of cultural centers to foster an integrated academic environment.
