University of Basrah Organizes a Specialized Course on Meat Adulteration Detection and Food Safety Enhancement
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a specialized scientific course on the use of modern techniques for detecting meat adulteration and identifying animal-derived products. The course was held over two days.
The course aimed to highlight the latest methods used in detecting food fraud and identifying animal sources, thereby enhancing scientific and health awareness among faculty members, researchers, and students.
The theoretical component, delivered by Dr. Israa Yaqoub Yousif and Dr. Alaa Mohammed Sadkhan, provided an explanation of physical, chemical, and molecular testing methods. The practical component included a visit to the Genetics Engineering Laboratory to learn about Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology, contributing to the development of applied skills and the promotion of food safety.
