University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on the Concept of Terrorism
The College of Law at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on distinguishing terrorism from armed struggle in international law.
The workshop aimed to clarify the concept of terrorism, one of the most controversial legal concepts in contemporary international law due to the lack of a unified definition and its overlap with other concepts, most notably armed struggle and national liberation movements.
The workshop included a lecture by faculty member Hiba Dhahab Maw, who highlighted the importance of establishing a clear legal framework that distinguishes between terrorism and armed struggle, based on the rules of international law, international conventions, and the opinions of international scholars. This framework would prevent the misuse of the concept of terrorism as a political tool.
