The University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on the Importance of Beneficial Bacteria in Strengthening Immunity
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a workshop entitled “The Importance of Beneficial Bacteria in Strengthening Immunity.”
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of microbial balance in the gut and its role in regulating cholesterol and blood sugar levels, in addition to its contribution to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and the promotion of overall health.
The workshop included a lecture delivered by faculty members specializing in veterinary public health, who discussed the role of gut microbiota in regulating cholesterol through their influence on bile acids. They also warned that microbial imbalance and increased intestinal permeability may lead to chronic inflammation that negatively affects cardiovascular health.
The workshop recommended organizing additional events on this topic to raise community awareness of the benefits of beneficial bacteria and their contribution to maintaining and improving health.
