The University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Seminar on the Economic Implications of the Strait of Hormuz
The College of Administration and Economics, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, organized a scientific seminar entitled “The Closure of the Strait of Hormuz and Its Impact on the Iraqi Economy.”
The seminar aimed to raise students’ awareness of the importance of this vital maritime passage and its economic implications.
Delivered by lecturer Yasmin Najm Abdullah, the seminar addressed the strategic significance of the Strait of Hormuz and examined the potential impact of its closure on Iraqi oil exports, along with the resulting challenges that could threaten financial stability.
The seminar also discussed strategies for addressing economic crises through diversifying sources of income and reducing dependence on oil revenues, while emphasizing the importance of adopting sustainable strategic plans to ensure the stability of the national economy.
