University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on the Court of Cassation's Oversight of the Interpretation of Laws
The College of Law at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on the Court of Cassation's oversight of the interpretation of foreign law.
The workshop aimed to clarify the limits of this oversight based on the legal characterization of foreign law. If the court considers foreign law to be a fact, the lower court's assessment of it becomes final and cannot be appealed.
The workshop included a lecture presented by Professor Najat Abdul-Munim Marzouq, who explained the role of the Court of Cassation in interpreting foreign law and reviewed how national courts apply and interpret foreign laws.
