The University of Basrah Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Directorate of Agricultural Extension for Training

The University of Basrah has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Directorate of Agricultural Extension for Training at the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture.

The President of the University, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem Al-Asadi, stated that the agreement includes the exchange of expertise in combating agricultural pests affecting fields and orchards, as well as forecasting and early detection methods, in addition to the use of environmentally friendly pesticides.

He added that both parties agreed to rehabilitate gardens across university campuses, adopt drip irrigation systems, and train agricultural engineers in cultivating crops resistant to high temperatures, including hybrid wheat varieties.

Furthermore, he explained that the agreement was signed on behalf of the other party by the Director of the Agricultural Extension and Training Center, Dr. Mustafa Abdul Fattah Qahtan, in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Khazal Mihbas.
