A Seminar at the University of Basrah to Enhance Students’ Efficiency and Reduce Examination Stress
The University Counseling Center at the University of Basrah, in collaboration with the Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine, organized an online seminar entitled “Preparing the University Student for First-Year Examinations.”
The seminar aimed to equip first-year students with practical strategies for preparing for final examinations through applied guidance designed to structure study routines and contribute to reducing stress associated with academic assessments.
The session included presentations delivered by the lecturers Aswaq Jabar Hamoud and Lamyaa Subhi Nasser, focusing on the concept of examination anxiety and the mechanisms underlying its emergence. It also introduced simple exercises that students can apply to ease pressure during examination settings. In addition, the seminar addressed effective study techniques and methods for enhancing concentration and cognitive awareness, thereby supporting students’ academic performance.
