University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Obesity
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on obesity and its associated diseases.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about obesity as a chronic medical condition resulting from excessive fat accumulation in the body, which negatively impacts overall health due to its link to numerous health problems.
The workshop included a lecture presented by faculty member Noor Hamid, who explained the main causes of obesity, including dietary factors, lifestyle, genetic factors, and medical and hormonal causes. Obesity increases the risk of developing several diseases, including heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, joint problems, and some types of cancer.
