University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on the Classification of River Estuaries
The College of Marine Science at the University of Basrah organized a workshop entitled “Classification of River Estuaries: Geology.”
The workshop aimed to familiarize researchers and students with the various geological systems that shape river estuaries, as well as the modern scientific standards used in classifying these vital regions, with a focus on understanding the natural processes that govern their formation and development.
The workshop included a lecture delivered by Dr. Ali Basil Mahmoud, who explained the types of estuaries based on their geological and structural characteristics, in addition to providing an overview of the sedimentary and climatic processes that influence seabed topography and continental slopes.
