Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines Contaminating Fungi in Nuts
A Master’s thesis at the College of Science at the University of Basrah examined the diversity and distribution of contaminating fungi in certain types of nuts and their production of mycotoxins.
The thesis, presented by student Saja Akkab Yousif, aimed to investigate the fungal communities contaminating several types of nuts in different areas of Basrah Province and to assess their potential for producing mycotoxins.
The thesis consisted of four chapters in which the student discussed the isolation of fungi from various nut samples, the morphological and genetic identification of these fungi, as well as the study of fungal communities and the determination of their ability to produce mycotoxins.
