University of Basrah Holds Safety and Security Course
The College of Dentistry at the University of Basrah held a course on Chemical, Biological, and Radiological (CBRN) Safety and Security.
The course aimed to enhance postgraduate students' understanding of CBRN safety and security concepts, raise awareness of radiation hazards and methods of prevention, and contribute to providing a safe laboratory environment and adhering to approved safety procedures within educational and research laboratories.
The course, presented by Dr. Abdul-rahman Falih Hassan, covered the concepts of radiation, types of radioactive contamination and their risks, the effects of radiation on laboratory personnel, safety requirements, emergency plans, and radiation detection mechanisms, as well as explaining the approved preventive measures for safe handling within educational and research laboratories.
