Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines Improving the Productivity of Desert Cucumbers
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah examined a Master's thesis entitled "The Effect of Irrigation Duration and Foliar Spraying with a Mixture of Amino Acids and Seaweed Extract on Two Cucumber Varieties."
The thesis, presented by researcher Hussein Jarallah Zaji, aimed to evaluate the efficiency of the desert cucumber plant and its response to irrigation scheduling.
The study included a factorial experiment of three main factors on two plant varieties and investigated the role of foliar feeding in improving growth, productivity, and resistance to environmental stress.
The thesis recommended irrigating every 16 hours, planting the Indian hybrid variety, and using foliar spraying at a concentration of 3 ml/L to improve growth and production with environmentally friendly fertilizers.
