PhD Dissertation at the University of Basrah Examines the Spatial Changes in Date Palm Cultivation in Basrah
A PhD dissertation at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah examined the spatial analysis of changes in date palm cultivation areas in Basrah Province between 2000 and 2024: a study in agricultural geography.
The dissertation, presented by student Iman Taha Abdul Hassan, aimed to analyze the natural and human factors affecting date palm cultivation, including geographical location, climate, soil, and water resources, in addition to human factors such as labor force, irrigation systems, and agricultural policies.
The dissertation consisted of five chapters in which the student discussed the temporal and spatial changes in cultivated areas in a manner that contributes to supporting decision-making processes aimed at revitalizing this vital sector in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.
