University of Basrah Organizes Scientific Seminar on Detecting Financial Fraud
The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education, organized a scientific seminar entitled “The Complementary Relationship Between Internal Auditing and Forensic Accounting in Detecting Financial Fraud.”
The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of integrating internal auditing and forensic accounting in strengthening control systems and facilitating the early detection of financial fraud, thereby supporting legal and administrative procedures within institutions.
The seminar, delivered by lecturers Muslim Badr Jasim and Adyan Falah Huraijah, presented the most common methods of financial fraud and strategies for preventing them. It also explained the role of internal auditing in identifying irregularities and the role of forensic accounting in determining the parties involved and analyzing financial evidence.
The seminar recommended strengthening institutional cooperation, adopting modern technologies in auditing and financial investigations, developing specialized training programs, updating relevant regulations and legislation, and promoting a culture of professional compliance to reduce incidents of financial fraud.
