Faculty Member at the University of Basrah Publishes Two Research Papers in a Scopus-indexed Journal
Dr. Mahmoud Shaker Hashem, a faculty member at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah, published two scientific papers titled "Identifying flavor compounds in pollen and their role in attracting honeybees" and "Study of amino acids and the functional properties of two types of algae (Arthrospira platensis and a local Arthrospira sp.)" in the *Agricultural Biotechnology Journal*, Q3, SJR 0.245. The journal is published by Shahid Bahonar University in Kerman in collaboration with the Iranian Society for Biotechnology and focuses on publishing articles on biotechnology applied in agriculture, genetics, and crop physiology.
The first research paper aimed to identify the compounds responsible for the flavor of pollen and understand their role in attracting honeybees. The second research paper aimed to evaluate and compare the amino acid content and functional properties of two types of Arthrospira algae—a standard and a local variety—to determine the suitability of the local variety as an effective food or industrial alternative.
