University of Basrah Organizes Seminar on Nano-Fertilizers
The Palm Research Center at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled “Nano-Fertilizers: Technological Advances and Precautions in Their Use.”
The seminar aimed to introduce nanotechnology and its agricultural applications, highlighting its significance and role in improving plant growth and enhancing agricultural productivity.
The seminar, delivered by Lecturer Abdul Samad Aboud Abdullah, reviewed the origins and development of nanoscience and nanotechnology in both general and agricultural fields. It also discussed the concept of nano-fertilizers, their advantages over conventional fertilizers, methods of production, and the mechanisms through which they are transported and function within plants.
Furthermore, the seminar addressed the role of nano-fertilizers in mitigating environmental stress and improving the efficiency of nutrient uptake. It also examined the potential risks and concerns associated with their use in relation to human health and the environment, while highlighting their importance in the growth and productivity of date palm trees.
