University of Basrah Examines the Effects of Pomegranate Peels and Harmal Seeds on Patients with Diabetes
A master’s thesis at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, investigated the effects of pomegranate flowers, pomegranate peels, and harmal (Peganum harmala) seeds on advanced glycation end products and other metabolic indicators in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
The thesis, presented by student Iman Faleh Abdul Rahim, aimed to explore the potential health benefits of pomegranate flowers, pomegranate peels, and harmal seeds, while enhancing scientific understanding of their role in influencing advanced glycation end products in individuals with Type 2 diabetes.
The thesis consisted of four chapters in which the researcher evaluated the effects of pomegranate flowers, pomegranate peels, and harmal seeds on advanced glycation end products, as well as selected hematological and lipid profile parameters in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
