University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Renewable Energy and Environmental Sustainability Initiatives
The Scientific Affairs Department at the University of Basrah organized an extensive workshop to discuss mechanisms for advancing renewable energy and sustainability initiatives. The workshop focused on completing the accurate documentation of previous activities and initiatives, thereby directly supporting the University’s institutional performance indicators and contributing to the achievement of comprehensive sustainability goals.
The workshop included a lecture delivered by the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed, in the presence of the Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, Dr. Muhannad Hamid Aboud. The speakers highlighted the importance of strengthening the academic dimension by encouraging research projects, master’s theses, doctoral dissertations, and graduation projects that address issues related to energy and the environment.
The workshop also featured discussions on developing future plans for enhancing the role of “Green Teams” and expanding applied programs within the University. Participants further emphasized the importance of continuing awareness-raising and training activities aimed at promoting a culture of rational and sustainable energy use.
