University of Basrah Participates in Workshop to Enhance Women’s Leadership Role in Peacebuilding
The Director of the University Counseling and Psychological Guidance Center at the University of Basrah, Dr. Heba Majeed Issa, participated in a specialized training workshop organized by the Iraqi Al-Firdaws Association, held at the hall of the National Presbyterian Evangelical Church.
The participation aimed to develop women’s capacities and strengthen their contribution to promoting the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, as well as supporting pathways of development and stability in society.
The workshop addressed several themes related to enhancing women’s leadership capacities and reinforcing their role in consolidating a culture of peace, coexistence, and constructive dialogue among different segments of society. It also emphasized supporting women’s engagement in community initiatives aimed at strengthening stability and social cohesion. In addition, the training sessions and interactive discussions focused on leadership skills, communication, and dialogue management, enabling women to play more effective roles in peacebuilding, community development, and social negotiations on issues of social and religious concern, in coordination with religious leaders and tribal elders within unified frameworks. This aligns with national plans for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security.
