University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on the Achievements of Medicinal Plants
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a workshop entitled “Achievements of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Unit,” attended by the Dean of the College, Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, along with a number of faculty members, researchers, and staff.
The workshop, delivered by the Director of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Unit, Professor Dr. Haider Subaih Shno, reviewed the administrative and scientific aspects of the unit’s activities during the current year and previous years, highlighting its key achievements in the cultivation and propagation of medicinal and aromatic plants and its role in supporting scientific research, practical training, and community service.
The workshop also addressed the unit’s major scientific and research activities, training programmes, and applied projects, in addition to its efforts to promote modern technologies related to the cultivation and production of medicinal and aromatic plants.
Furthermore, the participants discussed avenues of cooperation with government institutions and the private sector, as well as future plans to develop the unit’s infrastructure and expand its research and production activities in ways that contribute to sustainable agricultural development and strengthen food and pharmaceutical security.
