Master's Thesis at the University of Basra Discusses the Image of Iraqi Society in the Novels of Ward Badr Al-Salem
A master's thesis at the College of Education in Al-Qurna, University of Basrah, entitled "The Image of Iraqi Society in the Novels of Ward Badr Al-Salem," was discussed.
The thesis, presented by student Hajar Ali Hashim, aimed to shed light on Iraqi society as portrayed in the author's novels and to reveal the cultural, social, and political representations that contributed to shaping it.
The study addressed a number of phenomena that have characterized Iraqi reality, including violence, marginalization, exclusion, shame, power, and wars, as well as identity crises, kidnapping, and migration, and their effects on the individual and society.
The study adopted a cultural approach to analyzing the novels and interpreting their meanings, concluding that Ward Badr Al-Salem's novels presented a profound vision of the transformations that Iraqi society has witnessed and expressed its suffering and anxieties amidst contemporary social and political changes.
