Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Biodiesel Production in Basra Governorate
A master's thesis at the College of Education in Al-Qurna, University of Basrah, explored the production of biodiesel using certain types of bacteria and yeasts isolated from local environments in Basra Governorate.
The study, presented by student Waad Balasem Abdul-Sada, evaluated the feasibility of producing microbial biodiesel from the oils of bacteria and yeasts isolated from extreme environments in Basra Governorate.
The study successfully demonstrated the ability of some microbial isolates to produce lipids within their cells when cultured in stimulating media.
The results showed good conversion efficiency and promising properties of the resulting biodiesel. These findings indicate the potential for adopting microbial oils as an alternative and sustainable source for producing environmentally friendly biodiesel.
