University Council Holds Its Fourteenth Session to Discuss the New University Examination Instructions and Support Scientific Research
The Council of University of Basrah held its fourteenth regular session under the chairmanship of the University President, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazim Al-Asadi, in the presence of the Vice Presidents for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, the Council Secretary, and all Council members. The meeting addressed a range of academic, administrative, and scientific matters included on its agenda.
The session commenced with a review of the University President’s directives, in which he emphasized the importance of advancing the educational process and providing an optimal academic environment for both students and faculty members.
Under the preliminary agenda items, the Council conducted a comprehensive review of the University Examination Instructions No. (11) of 2026 and the mechanisms for their implementation. The Council also approved reductions in tuition fees for a number of humanitarian cases and eligible students in accordance with the applicable regulations.
With regard to postgraduate studies and faculty affairs, the Council discussed requests to extend the study period for master’s and doctoral students in support of their research progress. It also considered applications for extending the service of a number of faculty members to ensure continued benefit from their extensive academic expertise.
The session concluded with discussions on scientific affairs, during which the Council reviewed a report presented by the Director of the Scientific Affairs Department on promoting scientific research and mechanisms for supporting international publication. It also discussed a report submitted by the Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department aimed at enhancing the University’s academic ranking.
