University of Basrah Participates in Launching the Steering Committee for Agriculture and Climate Change
The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah, Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, participated in the extensive workshop held in Erbil Governorate under the slogan "For a Sustainable Agricultural Future." The workshop witnessed the official launch of the Steering Committee for the Agricultural Sector and Climate Change in Basra Governorate.
The two-day workshop was organized in cooperation with the international organization Tearfund and the local government in Basra, with the participation of representatives from government institutions and donor agencies.
Dr. Al-Shawi emphasized the college's commitment to its scientific and advisory role in providing research solutions to address the challenges of climate change, water scarcity, and salinity. The committee aims to coordinate efforts and prioritize agricultural projects that support food security in the governorate.
