University of Basrah Participates in the Inauguration of the Migration Resource Centre to Promote Sustainable Development and Community Stability
The University of Basrah, represented by the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Al-Shawi, participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Migration Resource Centre (MRC) in Basrah Governorate. The centre was established through cooperation between the Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), with support from the Government of the Netherlands.
The University’s participation reflects its commitment to strengthening partnerships with government institutions and international organizations, while contributing to humanitarian and development initiatives aimed at reducing irregular migration and promoting sustainable community stability.
Dr. Al-Shawi affirmed that the College of Agriculture is committed to utilizing its scientific and research capabilities in the service of the community and aligning its academic outputs with development initiatives in support of the Sustainable Development Goals, thereby contributing to greater economic and social stability in Iraq.
