Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Investigates the Effect of Salt Stress on Tissue Cultured Date Palm Offshoots
A master's thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, investigated the morphological, biochemical, and genetic effects of salt stress on tissue cultured date palm offshoots, evaluating the role of amino acids and salicylic acid in mitigating its negative effects.
The thesis, submitted by student Rasha Hatem Shanshul Jari, aimed to study the effect of spraying offshoots with different concentrations of these substances on improving growth and anatomical characteristics under salt stress conditions.
The results demonstrated the effectiveness of the treatments used in enhancing salt tolerance.
The study recommended the potential use of amino acids and salicylic acid as salt stress mitigators and the expansion of date palm offshoot cultivation using plant tissue culture techniques to address salinity challenges.
