University of Basrah Participates in an International Training Program on Desertification Control Technologies in China
The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah, Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, accompanied by a group of faculty members from the College, participated in the International Training Program on Desertification Control Technologies for Arab Countries. The program is organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and implemented by the Forest and Grassland Research Institute of the Ningxia Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences in Yinchuan, from 28 July to 17 August 2026.
The participation aims to explore the latest international technologies and expertise in desertification control, forest ecosystem and rangeland management, thereby strengthening scientific and research capabilities and supporting efforts to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable agricultural development in Iraq.
