University of Basrah Academic Publishes Research in an International Journal
Dr. Mahmoud Shakir Hashim, a faculty member at the Marine Science Centre, University of Basrah, in collaboration with other researchers, has published a research paper entitled:
“Effect of Seaweed Extract and Silicon on the Growth, Yield, Activity of Catalase and Peroxidase Enzymes, and the Level of Phytohormones of the Broad Bean Plant, Vicia faba L.”
The paper was published in the International Journal of Design & Nature and Ecodynamics, a Scopus Q2-indexed journal with a CiteScore of 1.7, published by the International Information and Engineering Technology Association (IIETA).
The journal publishes multidisciplinary research exploring nature and its significance in scientific thought, design, and the rich diversity of the natural world.
The study was conducted at a private farm in Al-Qurnah District, north of Basrah Governorate, to evaluate the effects of seaweed extract (Agrosign) and silicon on the vegetative and flowering growth, productivity of broad bean (Vicia faba L.) plants, the activity of catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POD) enzymes, and the concentrations of the phytohormones auxin, gibberellin (GA), and abscisic acid (ABA).
