University of Basrah Participates in Anti-Desertification Training Course in China
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah participated in the advanced training course Desertification Control Technologies for Arab Countries, held in Yinchuan, China, and organized by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce in cooperation with the Ningxia Academy.
The Dean of the College, Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, delivered a speech on behalf of the Arab delegations, commending the excellent organization and the quality of the scientific and practical programme, which provided participants with an opportunity to learn about China’s experience in combating desertification.
Al-Shawi emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation and exchanging expertise and experiences to address the challenges posed by drought and climate change, while making use of modern technologies to support food security and achieve sustainable development.
The activities concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields, accompanied by praise for the course’s scientific and practical outcomes.
