University of Basrah Academic Publishes a Book on Women’s Contributions to the Arab Spring
Dr. Wafaa Yassin Najm, an academic at the College of Law, University of Basrah, has published a book entitled Women and the Arab Spring.
The 126-page book, comprising two sections, examines the Arab Spring as a series of peaceful protest movements that emerged in several Arab countries in late 2010 and continued into early 2011, inspired by the Tunisian Revolution, which erupted following Mohamed Bouazizi’s self-immolation. The book identifies widespread corruption, economic stagnation, and deteriorating living conditions among the main factors that contributed to the emergence of these movements.
