A master's thesis at the College of Law, University of Basrah, examined "Reverse Entry in Current Accounts: A Comparative Legal Study."
The thesis, submitted by student Amna Jameel Qassim, aimed to define the concept of a current account between a customer and a bank. It explained how a current account involves crediting the customer's account for the value of a discounted commercial paper after the bank has paid for it in advance, only for the paper to become uncollectible upon its maturity date.
The thesis comprised two chapters in which the student discussed the conceptual framework of reversing entries in current accounts, defining their conditions and legal nature, and outlining the provisions governing reversing entries in current accounts, including the implications of making such entries while the current account is active.
