University of Basrah Discusses Economic Challenges and Budget Development with Parliamentary Finance Committee
The Finance Committee of the Iraqi Parliament met with the deans of faculties of administration and economics from public universities, headed by Professor Dr. Abdul-Hussein Tawfiq Shibli, Dean of the Faculty of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah and Chairman of the Committee of Deans of Faculties of Administration and Economics, to discuss the most prominent economic challenges facing the country and ways to develop financial policies.
The meeting addressed the repercussions of oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz and the potential challenges associated with its closure, in addition to discussing the transition from a line-item budget to a program and performance budget.
The attendees agreed to form a broad, voluntary committee comprising specialists in economic, administrative, and statistical sciences from public universities to provide advice, proposals, and scientific solutions to address economic challenges as they arise.
