University of Basrah Faculty Member Publishes Book on the Sacred Battle of Karbala
Dr. Ibrahim Ali Diwan, a faculty member at the College of Education for Women, University of Basrah, has published a book entitled The Sacred Battle of Karbala: Between the Journey of Longing for Martyrdom and the Captivity of the Meanness of Power — A Study in Historical Geography.
The 543-page book is divided into eight chapters.
The book examines the Battle of Karbala from the perspective of historical geography, exploring the sacredness and geographical features of the city of Karbala, tracing the journey of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) from Mecca to Karbala, and examining the geographical distribution of the martyrs and his supporters, as well as the locations and routes of the armies involved in the battle. It also traces the journey of the captives of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) from Karbala to the Levant, in addition to examining the cosmic events and phenomena associated with the killing of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
