University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Updates to the Unified Accounting System in Accordance with International Standards
To familiarize accounting and internal audit staff with modern accounting systems, and in the presence of the University President’s assistants, University of Basrah organized a specialized workshop addressing “The Differences Between the Accounting Guide of the Old and New Systems in Accordance with International Standards and Accounting Practices Under the Current System” at the University Presidency building.
The workshop included a lecture delivered by specialists from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, highlighting the key differences between the old accounting guide and updated systems aligned with International Accounting and Financial Reporting Standards, as well as reviewing current accounting practices, methods for processing accounting entries, and ensuring accurate financial disclosure.
The University President’s assistants emphasized the importance of continuing such activities to develop professional skills, improve financial performance efficiency, and strengthen transparency and governance within the educational institution.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion between the staff and the ministerial delegation to address the main daily challenges and ways to overcome them, ensuring the smooth operation of accounting procedures.
