University of Basrah Discusses the Effectiveness of Honey-Produced Nanoparticles Against Diabetic Foot Bacteria
A master's thesis at the College of Education in Al-Qurna, University of Basrah, discussed "Evaluating the Effectiveness of Nanoparticles Produced by Types of Natural Honey Against Bacteria Causing Diabetic Foot Infection."
The thesis, presented by student Rasha Nadhim Abdullah in the Department of Life Sciences, included the green preparation of silver nanoparticles using two types of natural honey (Sidr and Spring), characterization of their properties, testing their antibacterial activity against several bacteria isolated from cases of diabetic foot infection, and studying their synergistic effect with some antibiotics.
The study concluded that the manufactured nanoparticles possess varying inhibitory activity against bacteria depending on the type and concentration of the detected particles, thus enhancing the potential for employing this technology in future biological and medical applications.
