Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Investigates Serum Glycosin Levels
A master's thesis at the College of Medicine, University of Basrah, investigated serum glycosin as a potential biomarker for insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes patients.
The research, presented by student Haider Kamel Abdulhassan, aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using serum glycosin as a biomarker for insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes patients. This was achieved by measuring serum glycosin levels and monitoring their response to clinical and demographic variables, such as age, body mass index, glycemic control, and the type of medication used, compared to healthy individuals.
The research included a comparative study of serum glycosin levels between type 2 diabetes patients and healthy individuals. The results showed a significant decrease in serum glycosin levels in the diabetic group, highlighting its close correlation with the pathophysiology of diabetes and confirming its value as a promising biomarker for diagnosing and monitoring insulin resistance.
