University of Basrah Organizes Seminar on Drugs and Psychotropic Substances
The Date Palm Research Centre at the University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar entitled “Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and Their Impact on the University Community.”
The seminar aimed to raise awareness of drugs and psychotropic substances, their risks and impact on the university community, as well as their health and social consequences and ways to prevent them.
The seminar, delivered by researcher Sajjad Sabah Idham, a faculty member at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, addressed the types and compositions of drugs and psychotropic substances, their harmful effects, and the main causes and factors contributing to their spread. It also emphasized the importance of relying on reliable sources and avoiding substances and medications of unknown origin.
The seminar also highlighted the risks associated with certain relationships and interactions through social media platforms and chat rooms, which may lead to blackmail or enticement into illegal activities. It stressed the importance of raising awareness and adhering to safe practices to mitigate such risks.
