University of Basrah Organizes Seminar on Women’s Psychological Empowerment
The Date Palm Research Centre at the University of Basrah organized an awareness-raising seminar entitled “Women’s Psychological Empowerment and Its Role in Strengthening Their Rights.”
The seminar aimed to introduce the concept of psychological empowerment and its dimensions, including self-confidence, independence, a sense of competence, decision-making ability, and awareness of rights. It also highlighted the role of these aspects in enhancing women’s ability to consciously and effectively claim and defend their rights.
The seminar, delivered by researcher Doaa Mohammed Khalifa from the College of Education for Women, addressed the main psychological and social barriers that may hinder women’s empowerment, as well as the importance of psychological and social support, raising awareness, and promoting a culture of respect for women and their rights.
The seminar also highlighted the importance of building women’s psychological resilience, strengthening their self-confidence and decision-making abilities, and enabling them to face challenges in ways that contribute to enhancing their status and role within the family and society.
