Doctoral Dissertation at University of Basrah Examines the Structural Behavior of Composite Bridge Girders
A doctoral dissertation at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, examined the structural behavior of composite bridge girders made of cold-formed steel and concrete under repeated loading.
The dissertation, submitted by student Ali Abdul-Zahra Hassan, aimed to accelerate bridge construction, reduce design and construction costs, and propose the use of composite bridge girders made of cold-formed steel as an economical alternative.
The dissertation comprised five chapters addressing a new technique involving cold-formed steel plates combined with a reinforced concrete slab, either precast or cast in situ.
