Doctoral Dissertation at University of Basrah Examines Control System Design and Energy Management for Microgrids
A doctoral dissertation at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, examined the design of control systems and energy management for microgrids with uncertain grid connectivity.
The dissertation, submitted by student Haider Hassan Ali, aimed to address the challenges associated with microgrid integration by reducing total harmonic distortion (THD) at the point of common coupling (PCC) caused by line impedances.
The dissertation comprised five chapters, in which the researcher discussed conventional control strategies and their limitations resulting from unequal line impedances, voltage and frequency deviations at the points of common coupling, and power extraction, in comparison with the proposed control and energy management strategies.
